Best Practices Successfully Implemented By The Institution As Per NAAC Format Provided In The Manual (2022-23)

Best Practices I

Title of the Practice: ICT Enabled teaching, learning and Administrative work

Objectives of the Practice

Thanks to technology, teachers can easily access online databases, educational websites, and digital libraries that provide a wealth of information and resources for their lessons. This can help teachers create more varied and engaging lessons that cater to the different learning styles and abilities of their students. ICT in education improves engagement and knowledge retention. When ICT is integrated into teaching, students become more involved in their work. This is because technology provides different options to make it more fun and enjoyable when it comes to teaching the same things in different ways. On the other hand, ICT makes administrative work smooth and trouble-free.

The Context

In some contexts, ICTs have become an integral part of the interaction between teaching and learning, through such approaches as replacing whiteboards with interactive digital whiteboards, using students’ own smart phones or other learning devices during class, and the “flipped classroom” model, where students watch them use lectures at home on the computer and time in the classroom for more interactive exercises. When teachers are digitally literate and trained to use ICT, these approaches can lead to higher thinking skills, provide students with creative and individualized opportunities to express their understanding, and leave students better prepared to deal with ongoing technological changes in society and the workplace. On the other hand, the use of ICT in administrative work such as admission, account maintenance, fee collection, and placement of internal assessment marks on the university website, data maintenance, and scholarship information is very useful.

Practice

Over the years Mathabhanga College adopt the following to enabled ICT in Teaching learning and management:

Evidence of Success

The outcome of the practice is that students can easily access their notes and e-learning materials from the website as suggested by the teachers. Teachers are now more confident using ICT. SACT teachers are now more used to ICT-based techniques after training. Admission and fees-payment have become easier for students. Students can easily access the website update through the android-based Mathabhanga college app on their mobile. Administrative communication, fee collection, and registration processes are quite easier now with the help of ICT.

Problems Encountered and Resources Required

The number of smart classrooms and student-computer ratio is lower in our college due to lack of funding. Government funding is little. We have to depend upon the fees collection from students for infrastructure development, since college is in rural areas, course fees are less compared to the surrounding colleges. We will try our best to improve the facilities depending upon funding availability.
