About The department

Department of Mathematics, Mathabhanga College came into existence from 1994. Department offers courses at Undergraduate (UG) level . It runs 3-year B.Sc. (Honours & General) courses in Mathematics under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from academic session 2017-18. The department has three parmanet faculty with diversified expertise, for example, Functional analysis, Operator Theory, Topology, Algebraic Topology, Quantum Field Theory, Operations Research, Optimization, Algebra, and Complex Analysis. Along with regular faculties one experienced SACT teachers have been rendering his valuable service to this Under Graduate section in Mathematics. B.Sc. pass out students from Mathematics Department are already well placed in different reputed places and some of them are pursuing further studies for achieving higher degrees.

The Department follows the course guidelines and syllabus as given by the Coochbehar Panchanan Barma University. The department teachers distribute amongst themselves the various topics given in the course syllabus.

Programme Outcome

Formulate and develop mathematical arguments in a logical manner. Also when there is a need for information, the student will be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for handling issues or solving problems at hand. Acquire good knowledge and understanding in advanced areas of mathematics and its applications.

Programme Specific Outcome

Will be able to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems that can be modeled mathematically, to critically interpret numerical and graphical data, to read and construct mathematical arguments and proofs, to use computer technology appropriately to solve problems and to promote understanding, to apply mathematical knowledge to a career related to mathematical sciences thus cultivating a proper attitude for higher learning in mathematics.
